Company B
36th Illinois Infantry Volunteers

"Who knows, but it may be given to us, after this life, to meet again in old quarters, to play chess and draughts, to get up soon to answer the morning roll call, to fall in at the tap of the drum for drill and dress parade, and again to hastily don our war gear while the monotonous patter of the long roll summons to battle? Who knows but again the old flags, ragged and torn, snapping in the wind, may face each other and flutter, pursuing and persued, while the cries of victory fill a summer day? And after the battle, then the slain and wounded will arise, and we will all meet together under two flags, all sound and well, and there will be talking and laughter and cheers, and all will say: Did this not seem real? Was it not as in the old days?"

The 36th Illinois Infantry Regiment Historical Association, Inc., is an organization that is dedicated to preserving our country's Civil War era history through presentations and historical reenactments that are interesting in a relevant and useful way. Our membership is primarily from the greater Chicago and Joliet, Illinois area. Our events take place on most weekends from April through October. We set up different types of camps, drill, and participate in demonstrations with other Civil War units in the area and at national level events. Authenticity is paramount and we observe strict rules and standards set down by our membership. We try to recreate the appearance as much as possible, of the original 36th Illinois. This regiment fought at Pea Ridge, Perryville, Stones River, Chickamauga, Mission Ridge, Atlanta, Franklin, and many other engagements.
